SPI support in Elk PIHat + Raspberry Pi?

Hi,

I found this reply from @Stefano in a thread about Adafruit displays:

"We only support the I2C displays - SPI is not available since we use it for the GPIO connected through shift registers. "

So, the Elk PiHat is using the SPI pins on the RPi? Is there any way to use a SPI peripheral from the Elk+RPi?

Hi Rick,
yes, in the case of the Elk PI we are using the SPI pins.

With a custom HW project it could be possible to have a SPI display, though, and it’s even easier if you use the Compute Module instead than the SBC.
